An Innovation Weblog

I have recently come across a very interesting article from Brandweek titled “Are Makerters Dying on Second Life?”
Constantine von Hoffman has depicted a crystal clear picture in this article.
I have been a great fan of Second Life, and still continue to be. I believe that it has a great value for people and companies.
Constantine makes [...]

Device morphing

If I look at what a mobile phone is today it’s very difficult to say that is only a phone.
It is a phone when you are making a call. It’s a camera when you are taking pictures. It’s a camcorder when you are shooting a video. It is a television set when you are looking [...]

Innovation is in the details

Since we have moved our blog to Mediatemple we have been using Google Analytics to monitor usage statistics.
Personally I have always found the tool way too much complex for my needs.
In the last few days I shopped around and finally decided to go with Clicky.
I signed up for the free service and after a few [...]

The old tales that we read when we were young, or that someone told us, were full of suggestions for innovative thoughts. Think at Little Red Riding Hood story, a well known one that, after the initial fear (it lasted for me for about five years) leaves the auditor with a plenty of curiosity. Some [...]

Microactions

After my last post on Kiva I had an interesting discussion with my friend and colleague Riccardo.
He never heard about Kiva and was impressed to hear about it.
After a few minutes we started talking about how small actions can have an impact on the real world.
Kiva is the typical case. It’s a collection of ‘microactions’ [...]

Lend to Kiva

This post is kind of personal.
When I get home and check the snail mail mailbox I usually find request for donations coming from different organizations. Sometimes I decided to donate some money to some of these organizations, sometimes I simply forgot about them.
When I donate I always ask to myself where this money will really [...]

After another quite difficult weekend we have decided to move on to new pastures.
.Dust is now hosted by MediaTemple.
The transition process was fast and easy (Thanks phpMyAdmin).
The real downtime was almost an hour long and mainly due to DNS propagation. (Still ongoing though)
